Join us in our mission to build our next generation of search that will enable a rich and intuitive search experience across all of our brands. We are looking for a Technical Lead, Engineering that can help us in the development of the future of Trader Interactive marketplace search.

What You’ll Do

As a Technical Lead, this is your opportunity to work closely with a product manager and team of engineers in building and supporting search functionality across the marketplace. This will deliver a state-of-the-art search experience to help consumers take action on their search results. In addition, you will play a vital role in the technical direction of search, including researching and implementing the latest in marketplace search technology, and be a big part of something big.

• Guide the team in building a top-class search experience that impacts all of our sites
• Build features and services that support search at scale
• Ideate and launch search PoCs using the latest search functionality, including ML and personalization
• Work closely with product managers and provide technical guidance during requirements gathering
• Exemplify our core values and model our leadership competencies
• Lead architecture reviews for the team while collaborating with Marketplace principal architects
• Document systems and processes using diagrams and flowcharts
• Break down large projects into discrete engineering tasks
• Lead a team of engineers in developing scalable and quality software
• Ensure security, performance, and stability of our products
• Manage team sprints and backlogs

What We’re Looking For

• 7+ years of experience in an engineering role
• 2+ years of leading small engineering teams or projects
• Advanced level knowledge of architecting and building search
• Experience with ingestion and querying of search applications
• Experience with a JS framework
• Experience with incident detection, incident response, and forensics
• Owns the development and support of products produced by the team

Bonus Points

• Experience with ingestion and querying of ElasticSearch
• Expert-level knowledge of ElasticSearch
• Microservices architecture and engineering
• Passionate about marketplace search
• Expert-level knowledge of JavaScript (Browser and Server)
• Advanced level knowledge of PHP
• Experience with Vue.js
• Experience with Tailwind CSS or other utility CSS frameworks
• Web component architecture and engineering
• Building container applications using Docker
• Experience with TypeScript
• Experience with Online Marketplaces
• Passionate about ML, AI, and the latest implications they have on marketplace search
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, applications, or related field
